The Real Way to Gain Muscle

By

To gain muscle, you have to force it to grow. You have to give it a reason to grow. If you lift 5lbs every day of your life, your body will make sure you have enough muscle and strength to lift 5lbs.

You won't give your body a reason to change. How do you give your body a reason to grow? You lift heavy sh*t!!

Girls, it is complete and utter B.S.

when people say you will get bulky by lifting heavy weight. That's wrong. My go-to example is Jamie Eason. She lifts heavy ass weight and look at her. She is not bulky, but has muscles. So don't listen to anyone that says girls should stick to cardio. Jamie Eason has some awesome workout plans you can follow. She is a good one to follow in this industry.

I'm going to use legs as an example when talking about how I have gained muscle. This applies to all muscle groups though.

When starting out I put the hardest, heaviest exercise first. For legs, I am always starting out on squats. I warm up with a light set that I can easily squat 15 times if I wanted to. Mostly I am just stretching out my legs. Then I work my way up the weights putting 10lbs plates on the bar every set.

It should take you about 3-4 sets to work up to what I call your "working set".

This is the set where you go balls out, no holding back, kick-ass killer set. Have I made myself clear on how important that set is? Get a spotter on this last set because you're going to need one. Set a goal number of reps -- usually between 6 to 12 reps. Take a bit of a rest before starting this set.

Now, with every fiber in your muscles rep out as many as you freaking can.

When you think you can't do one more, DO ONE MORE. Get to the point where you can't push one more rep out. You want to be out of breath, tired, and feeling DEAD. That is where muscle growth happens. Then, before you are done with that exercise, drop the weight about 20% of what it was.

On your last set, do 8 reps of 80% of what you just did, then strip it down to a weight that is fairly light, and rep out another 8-12 reps -- or until you just can't go anymore (this is what is called a drop set). It should burn. It should hurt. It should make you feel like you want to cry. You are FORCING your muscle to grow. Do this with every exercise you do that day. I promise you will start seeing results.

This is how muscle grows.

Not many people are willing to push it this hard. That is why you see the same people in the gym every day that look average, and only a handful who look truly fit.

If you don't know what exercises to do then go SUBSCRIBE to my blog http://www.frazerfitness.com and I'll send you a workout every week for a different muscle group. Hopefully I can be of some help for you to hit your goals!

Do You Need To Use Muscle Building Supplements?

By

What a subject, sure to ruffle some feathers! Most respected fitness, exercise, bodybuilder and nutrition experts have one thing in common, they disagree with each other on the subject. Are supplements worthwhile, useful or even necessary at all. Some think that as long as you follow a healthy diet, vitamins and other healthy supplements are not necessary.

Others see vitamins and the like as kind of an insurance policy for your health. And then there are the advocates of mega-vitamin supplementation.

My personal "opinion", "attitude", and "research" on this subject is that a healthy diet is always

number #1 before any supplementation should be considered.

And, your training program "intensity" can play a major role in your decision. Speaking from a personal point of view after 37 years of research, study, self experimentation on myself as well as clients and my personal need to "find the most effective" way to build muscle that will last a life-time have brought me to this conclusion.

I do believe that at certain times in a person's life-cycle, supplements can have considerable value to their overall health and well being. In fact, supplements are now taking the place of drugs in medical therapy and sometimes with greater effectiveness.

But I have to be careful of how I say this because I don't want to mislead you.

Many "supplement-hucksters" are making claims that their "steroid replacers" are as effective as drugs (steroids) and that is not true. The product may help or it may not, it depends on many factors. The one point I want to make clear is that NO legal supplement will produce the same results as a DRUG or steroid.

But... remember every drug has a know or unknown reaction to the body that is unhealthy. Even aspirin can upset and eventually cause damage to the stomach.!

Sure, some "nutraceauticals" are finding their place in medical circles. Niacin, Tryptophan and other amino acids as well as select herbal supplements and minerals are being prescribed. It's also true that if your diet is not in order and you are deficient in some essential vitamin or mineral, the right supplement will produce and amazing change in your health. It has in mine.

But again, I want to remind you that some of the marketing and down-right lies surrounding the supplement advertising make it confusing, hard to understand and costly for the average person.

However, there are a few basic benefits that almost everyone will experience with some of the old tried-and-true products. Sometimes the benefits cannot be felt as immediate as a drug but the health benefit is there if the supplement is natural and helping to build the body in a "healthy" process.

I am moderate in my supplementation and have experimented with a LOT of supplements throughout my training career. I follow a healthy diet that has changed in the ratio of macro and micro nutrients as I age, and that is the way it should be. A person's ability to assimilate and digest certain foods change as they age.

I've experienced some amazing changes in my muscle building and strength performance with the use of specific healthy supplements. I've seen measurable increases in strength, muscle mass, muscle tone and recuperation time when I use specific supplements.

Supplement #1 Multi-Vitamin & Mineral tablet.

I could go on and on about the current commercial farming methods of crop fertilization, GMO's and even what country the fruits and vegetables are be produced in and their methods of farming, but I will spare you. Just know this, unless you are eating certified organically grown fruits and vegetables, the vitamin & mineral content of the produce is very low.

If the vitamins and minerals are NOT in the soil then they are NOT in the produce! Crop rotation is no longer followed and the soil is nutrient depleted. GMO's and man-made fertilizers are what feed the industry. Do yourself a favor and take a quality multi-vitamin & mineral tablet at least once a day.

Supplement #2 Liver Tablet.

It was in 1979 that I got started with "real" desiccated liver tablets. I read about an experiment conducted by Dr. B.H. Ershoff. Dr. Ershoff had three groups of 12 rats that were fed the same diet for 12 weeks. The second group of 12 rats was given a plentiful addition of B-vitamins and yeast, and the third group of 12 rats was given additional B-vitamins and liver.

They were all thrown in a pool of water. The first two groups lived an average of 13 minutes and 18 seconds, and thirteen minutes and 24 seconds respectively.

Of the liver fed-group, 3 rats lived 63, 83 and 87 minutes and the other nine were swimming after two hours, when the experiment ended. If you are looking for strength and endurance this is the supplement you want to take. Do NOT take Liver Extract, it has to be Desiccated Liver tablets. There is a difference! If liver tablets are so potent why don't I see them being sold by supplement companies, you ask.

Simple, it's hard to write up a "newly discovered secret substance hype story" on a nutritional food with simple ingredients. All bodybuilders pre-steroid era and even Arnold and Lou Ferrigno used desiccated liver tablets. I take them almost every day of the week.

These are just two "staple supplements" that I use almost every day of the week.

In a forthcoming article I'll talk about protein powders, energy supplements and other nutritional supplement formulas that I know of or have formulated for myself and my clients that I feel are of help in building a lean and muscular physique that will build real muscle that last's a lifetime.

Add 15 Pounds Of Muscle In 7 Days

By

While honesty is a virtue, in the world of "muscle-building and fat loss" it is a lost commodity.

After 38 years in the world of bodybuilding, I can honestly say there is more B.S.

floating around now than ever before. In fact, I would put most of the building muscle info I see on the internet right up there with UFO abductions, Big Foot and "honest politicians".

You see, there is a correlation between building the body and the tendency to embellish or manipulate the truth, like my headline, many of the claims and so-called "Newly Discovered" training methods, diets and supplements are nothing more than P.T. Barnum gimmicks! Google search "P.T. Barnum" if you don't know idea who he was.

Myth: Awesome gains can be made with little "easy" effort if you have the right program and supplements.

No, No and NO! As someone who has tried just about every supplement, diet and training program, I can tell you that it takes hard work, dedication and a particular diet and training program to reach your goals.

Myth: Bigger is better.

Wrong. I kept backing out of entering my first contest because I kept telling myself "I was not big enough". When once again backing out of the prized contest I wanted to win because of the same old excuse, my girlfriend said I would never compete because I would never think "I was big enough". The comment cut to my heart. I decided to compete. I bested guys who were 20 and 30 pounds heavier than me. I won because I was much more defined and polished, not because of size.

Myth: The best looking guys and girls train 2-3 hours a day, 5-7 days a week.

No they do not. Over-training will not, cannot result in muscle gains. It is impossible to "over-train" and make muscle gains.

Myth: He, She, said they are natural and do not use steroids.

BULL! Let me tell you something. More people now than ever before are using Human Growth Hormone and Testosterone. These are not considered "anabolic steroids" so if they claim not to be using steroids they are in essence, not lying.

They do not want to admit the drug use because they think everyone will discount the hard work and diet they follow. Truth is without the drugs they could not have maintained the hard work and strict diet because they would have over-trained and under-feed their body. They would have actually lost muscle, not gained muscle.

Fact:

The human body is limited to the amount of muscle it can build in a given period of time. Age, health, gender, ability and a host of other human biological factors dictate the ability for muscle growth and fat loss.

To Build Muscle You Need To Follow These Guidelines:

1. Train hard and heavy with a weight lifting program that is sound and based in the principal's of progressive weight resistance. Do not mistake "hard training" with 'progressive training". Many trainee's do endless sets and reps and believe that is hard training. That kind of hard training will lead to muscle and central nervous system fatigue. The body will burn out and actually lose muscle.

2. Follow a healthy and nutrient based diet. Make sure you eat a variety of foods that contain all the macro and micro nutrients you need for building muscle that will be bigger and stronger and not shrink up after a week of not training.

3. Sleep is when the body actually repairs and creates new growth. Robbing your body of sleep is like planting a row of corn in the shadow of a tree. It will never grow to its fullest potential.

Train hard, eat hearty and sleep well!

Muscle Strain Recovery - PRICE

By Jacques Delorme

There is no worse feeling for an athlete than to be in a training session or competition and they feel a tweak in a muscle. Some are minor little pains while others are excruciating. Having had a hamstring tear, I could barely walk after wards and for the next month and a half. How athletes handle muscle strain recovery will dictate how soon they can return to full time action.

Damage to soft tissues (muscles, ligaments and tendons) can be acute or chronic.

Acute injuries occur at a specific point in time. A chronic injury are caused by overuse or repeated stress. Acute injuries that are not treated properly can turn into chronic problems. In either case, the area will swell, feel painful and have a decrease in ability to perform normal tasks.

Types of Injuries

Muscle strain recovery will change depending on the type of injury experienced.

1. Pull - a pulled muscle or muscle strain is a when the muscle fibers have been stretched too far but has not torn apart. Muscle fibers do naturally go through strains as a part of weightlifting heavier weights. The muscle will feel weak and sore but this is very different from an injured muscle that is more painful for a longer period of time.

2. Tears - can be quite painful and will have swelling and possibly bruising which will discolor the skin. The severity of the tear in the muscle will determine how much mobility it will have. A small number of muscle fibers tearing is called a Grade 1 tear. The covering around the muscle (the fascia) is not damaged. A Grade 2 tear is the same but involves more fibers. Grade 3 tears involve even more damaged fibers but in this case the fascia is damaged as well.

The highest is Grade 4 which is a complete tear of the muscle and fascia.

Muscle Strain Prevention

To minimize the chance of injuries:

· Warm-up properly with cardio and active (dynamic) stretching to increase body temperature and muscle elasticity. Warm muscle are less likely to tear.

· Start your training or pre-competition warmup with lighter exercises. This will increase blood flow and prepare the muscles for heavier work later.

· Stretching muscles after a workout has been shown to aid in recovery efforts as well as prevention.

· Lift under control and do not attempt to go beyond what is comfortable and safe.

PRICE

P: Protect - if you get hurt, STOP! Do not keep lifting weights or playing, it will just make it worse.

R: Rest - avoid any activity that will stretch the muscle again. Use a physio therapist or sports doctor to determine how much and type of exercise to do to remain active. This will help to avoid loss of conditioning.

I: Ice - apply a bag of ice wrapped in a wet towel immediately to reduce pain and swelling. 20 minutes every hour the first day is recommended.

C: Compression - use an elastic wrap to provide support and to help decrease swelling. Tight wraps are not good as they restrict blood flow.

E: Elevate - depending on the affected area, raise it to a level above your heart to reduce swelling.

Pain relievers like Tylenol can help but do not have anti-inflammatory effects like Motrin or Advil. Some experts do not like using them as they may not allow the body to respond properly to injury.

Minor injuries are not difficult to treat yourself. For more serious injuries, it is always recommended that you see a specialist to avoid possible complications. Muscle strain recovery can be cut much shorter with the proper care

Breaking Out Of The Muscle Building Rut

If you have reached a plateau of muscle building , then it's time to surprise your muscles. It is easy to get into a groove. Which did not affect the routine? Everyone but the most successful people out of this rut arch when they find themselves in it.

As another way to describe the routine is to call a coffin with two open ends.

And fall into a rut when building muscle is terrible waste of time, resources and effort. So, here are two tools to shock the muscles of the routine :

giant September

The blood carries nutrients and strengthens muscles . We talk about " the bomb ! " If you do not get a coherent" bomb " , then you 're not building muscle. Giant games are perfect for congested muscles with lots of blood .

Basically , it is done 4-5 exercises per muscle group without rest. For example , you perform the following exercises without rest , moving from one exercise to another, until I have done 5 years :

Incline Dumbbell
Prone dumbbell Flyes
V -Bar Dips
Cross bench dumbbell Jerseys
Push-ups
At the end of push-ups , rest 60 seconds and start building new giant . You would make a total of four games. You can keep the reps around 12 at first, but as you will probably fall . For squats , simply follow suit . The key is not to push the heavy weight , but in the end the giant and get the pump sets .

Obviously, your chest workout as described would be short . This is a good thing because it saves time . Also, this is a very difficult technique. You should not use it for more than a month to surprise your muscle growth back.

inverted pyramid

This technique is great for the bombing of a dam that holds the blood. And it is a simple technique.

1 Set - Use enough weight to complete hectic six repetitions followed by six burns. Burns are representatives of half done at the end of a match. Burns are one of the favorites for the point to be a brand for the legendary Larry Scott .
2nd set - Reduce weight by 10% and repeat 6 X 6 reps
3rd set - Reduce weight by 10% and repeat 6 X 6 reps
Fourth series - Reduce weight by 10% and repeat 6 X 6 reps
You should not rest more than 60 seconds between sets. This will be an observer and is intended to supplement burns more reps .

If you're in a rut or a plateau muscle building , then wise to use these tools to help you escape. Remember, the key is to achieve maximum muscle pump . The more blood into the muscles is twisted, the more nutrients they provide to their hungry , sore muscles. And that's a good thing.

The Beginners Guide to Building Muscle

By

The thought of starting a new workout routine can be scary, especially when you start hitting the gym. Going to the gym can be extremely hard for someone new to working out. The equipment is new, you have to workout in front of other people, and most of all you are not sure which exercises you should be doing to get the maximum results that you are looking for. It is no wonder so many people who are new to workouts stop going to the gym after only a month or two.
Luckily for you, if you are new to working out there are a few steps that will start your path to building real muscle. When you follow these simple steps you will not only be able to see quick results, but you will find yourself feeling more confident, more healthy, and more excited about building muscle.
First, Set Your Schedule
Have you ever heard the phrase, "We are creatures of habit"? Well, it is true. Our bodies are designed to protect us, they are designed to make sure that we can do whatever we need to do when we need to do it.
Because of this, our bodies like to have a schedule in place. When you have a routine, your body gets used to that routine and it prepares you physically and mentally for that routine. This is why you find yourself getting up on the weekends at the same time that you would get up for work and why you seem to get hungry at the same times every day.
Working out is no different. Once you have developed specific workout times, and stuck to them for about a month, you will start to notice that your body automatically craves working out at that schedule.
Your workout routines will need to keep changing in order to keep building muscle, but you will have the desire to workout at the same times every week.
So your first step is to pick three to five days out of the week and designate these as your official 'workout days'.
Always Stretch First
When you are hitting the gym after a long day of work, it is very tempting to just rush through your workout, doing only the things that you need to do so that you can finally get home and be done with your day.
But as tempting as it is to just hit the gym and start your workout, you need to take the time to stretch out your muscles first.
Just giving yourself five minutes of good stretching will allow your muscles to get through a longer workout without feeling tired or drained. You should also stretch after your workout to be sure that you don't wake up with sore muscles the next day.
Start with 6 to 15 Reps each of 2 to 4 Exercises
Now that you know your workout schedule and the importance of stretching, it is time to figure out how you are going to be working out. You want to start by picking two to four exercises that will work one area of your body, (either the upper body or the lower body).
For instance, if you wanted to workout the upper body you could do bench presses, the row machine, and bicep curls. While working out the lower body can include lunges and squats.
If you are working out at a gym, maybe you could see if they have a 'free session' with a trainer. Even if you don't choose to keep the trainer, you can still get an idea of what your exercise routine should be.
Once you have your exercises picked out, you should do 6 to 15 reps of each. You should also be sure that you do the same amount of reps on each side. For instance if you do 15 bicep curls on the left arm you need to do 15 bicep curls on the right arm.
The thought of picking a new exercise routine can be a little intimidating, especially if you are new to working out. But if you follow these simple steps you will start seeing results in no time.

How to Gain Muscle Mass - Powerful Tips

By

Studies show that people who gain muscle effectively will also significantly lower their body fat percentage as muscles are more efficient in burning fat, leading to lowered risks of obesity and other weight related problems.
In order to grow muscle mass, you must exercise, although there are many arguments on how you would like to proceed, and this is depending on what type of muscle growth you would like to achieve. This article describes the two methods in detail, as well as other techniques that would teach you how to gain muscle mass fast.
  • Lighter Weights, More Reps:
If you want to gain muscle that is more toned and lean in appearance, then this method is for you. By lifting weights that are around fifty to sixty percent of the maximum weight that you can carry, and by repeating the motions about ten to twelve times for three sets, you can promote lean muscle growth.
This type of exercise is used by most athletes that want to have a more athletic build muscle without hindering their agility or flexibility. Individuals who build muscle in this way will have a more ripped look while still maintaining a more slender shape.
  • Heavier Weights, Less Reps:
Lifting weights that are about eighty percent of your maximum capacity for three sets at five reps per set is recommended if you want to achieve hypertrophy, which is what happens when muscles are enlarged. If you want to gain muscle that is bulky and have increased strength, then this the routine for you.
Weightlifters and professional body builders use heavier weights and do fewer repetitions in order to increase their bulk, and although they are much stronger in general as compared to leaner people, they often have to sacrifice speed and agility as well as flexibility for this type of look.
  • Supplements:
Protein shakes are said to be able to help in order to help develop muscles as well as promote faster recovery after workouts, while supplements such as creatine aids in providing additional energy. These products would help you get the most out of your workouts and would enable you to build muscle much faster.
However, most supplements and products are expensive, and almost all of the ingredients found in these items can be acquired by the body by eating a balanced meal with the proper balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.
  • Some Warnings:
If you are serious about your desire to gain muscle, then you must be very determined by going to the gym regularly and following the proper exercise regimen. Results are not overnight, but you will definitely see the difference after a month or two.
Also, make sure that you rest at least a day between workouts in order to let your body recover.
Of course, never train while injured and consult with a doctor or personal trainer before you try any exercise program. Follow these tips so that you will know how to gain muscle mass safely and effectively.

Muscle Building For Beginners

By

I am sure many of you who are reading this are either i) already started on muscle building but want to find out more or ii) you haven't started but have already talked to your friends about working out at a gym soon.

I know as a beginner, it is very common to want to see results fast to impress your friends. Many of you would have planned to workout 5 to 6 times a week and work on every part of your muscles as thoroughly as possible.

I have a great news for all of you out there reading this now. Muscle building for beginners do not require so much of your time! All you need to have is a little patience and focus in your workouts. That's it!

I am going to list down some tips and also mistakes which many beginners aren't aware of so that you will not have to waste time figuring things out.

1) Always have plan

You already know that having your every own plan is very important. It will shorten your time in the gym from anywhere between 1 to 1.5 hours. Really! Many people spend too much time wondering in the gym looking for the workout that works "best".

You must already know what you need to do! Make it a habit to plan what you want to work for that day or better still that whole week! You can go even more detailed like what exercises you want to use and stuff like that.

2) Techniques

At the beginner stage of muscle building, many people will just emulate what the experienced ones do, sometimes not knowing if they are doing the right things. The best advice I give to all my students is that you need to be sure of your techniques and knowing is still not enough, you've got to constantly practice it!

The most effective workout is one which you give yourself no room for slacking. You need to finish what you need to accomplish that day and do them with perfect form.

3) Like a budding plant, you can't force your muscles to grow by hurrying it.

Here comes the need for a little patience. I have seen too many people who hurry their muscles to grow by working out everyday! Attention! This is the number one killer to your body and passion. You will get real pain in your muscles from the soreness.

It is always a good practise to have a break every other day. Your body recharges itself better, your muscles repair more efficiently, and you will feel stronger from each workout!

4) Nutrition

On the last note, you need to be aware of what goes into you. We all know by now that proteins make your muscles grow. So, have high protein meals before and after your workout. This will help your muscles to get the necessary protein it needs to grow.

Conclusion

What I just shared is 4 of the many things muscle building beginners need to know to start on the right foot. Of course, there are much more to it. Here, I only summarized and presented some of the more important points which beginners can benefit from.
